Whether it’s updates to the buildings we manage or building new properties, energy efficiency is our goal.
Harrison Development uses energy-efficient structural assets and green technology to develop environmentally conscientious properties. Our team works to develop and equip our properties with energy-efficient attributes – from the high-efficiency walls and roofing to the solar panels installed on both of our Massachusetts warehouses and our building in Sanford, Maine.
All our buildings have been or will be converted to 100% LED lighting.
Our Peabody warehouse was built and equipped with some of the best eco-friendly features available – including R49 ultra-insulated roof, R38 insulated metal wall panels, LED lighting throughout, and most notably, 2,222 rooftop solar panels. The solar panels make up a 711-kilowatt system that we have contracted with the city to sell them the green power for 25 years.
The Chelsea, Massachusetts warehouse also is equipped with 680 rooftop solar panels (198 kW system), helping to power the warehouse’s large-scale refrigeration space.
Our recently completed building located in Sanford, Maine, is the latest addition to our eco-friendly building portfolio. The Sanford commercial building includes R50 insulated panel roof, R38 insulated wall panels, and R28 insulated overhead doors. The building has a 217-kilowatt solar panel system on the roof that offsets our electricity costs and provides energy for the radiant floor heating system and split units used for heating and cooling.
We are also striving for our Sanford building’s surrounding property to include ecologically friendly landscape components. When the weather warms up in 2024, we will be utilizing our new underground rainwater capture system. This system will collect over 20,000 gallons of water that will be used for irrigation. To support local pollinators and other wildlife, we will be planting a New England wildflower mix and trees around the property.
Keep an eye out for updates regarding our upcoming solar project starting in late 2024. We have received approval from the city of Sanford to build a solar carport with electric car charging stations on our Sanford property!
